Our Church History

From the Heart Church Ministries of Atlanta was established on July 1, 2007, by Founding Episcopal Pastor Dr. John A. Cherry who initially pastored this local congregation. In September 2007, a place of worship was found and purchased and the church held its first Sunday Worship Service on Sunday, September 2 and its first Bible Study on September 4, 2007. On Sunday, January 6, 2008, Pastor Charles W. Starks, Jr. was ordained and installed as the pastor of From the Heart Church Ministries of Atlanta. Under the leadership of Pastor and Reverend Starks, the church grew in membership and volunteer ministries that allowed members to use their God-given gifts and talents in the service of the Lord. The church renovated the Dreams and Visions Educational Building and the Dedication Service was held on Sunday, April 10, 2011.

During the Covid-19 worldwide pandemic, the congregation livestreamed the weekly Sunday Worship Services and midweek Bible Study at the Parent Church from March 2020 to January 2021. The congregation that returned to worship in June 2021 is currently striving to Rise and Build, as the people of Jerusalem did in Nehemiah 2.

On December 22 2024, Pastor Charles Starks retired from seventeen years in the pastorate. Our Episcopal Pastor served as the pastor since and appointed Reverend Ahmed Hunter to serve as the Elder in Charge of this local church. Reverend and Sister Deidra Hunter faithfully served the Atlanta church since December 2024, leading the church in worship, fellowship and service. Today, Reverend Hunter is being installed as the interim pastor of this local church.
