Can you believe the entire world has been in a pandemic for over one year? Parents have been juggling employment or unemployment with children experiencing remote learning/traditional learning. Some have experienced distress, physical and mental health challenges, financial lack, storm damage, love ones hospitalized without visitation, and bereavement with graveside services. As if that’s not enough, we’ve all witnessed the social unrest, racial injustice and government fallout. Yet, God is Sovereign, and He is still on the throne! This pandemic nor any of the evil acts caught Him by surprise. He is still in control! In the midst of it all, He wants us to get closer to Him through prayer, reading His word, studying His word, listening to His word and meditating on His word. He wants to spend time with His children.
How’s your personal relationship with God? He loves you, knows everything about you and still loves you. He wants to spend private time with you. This past year and the present time gives us a wonderful opportunity to dig deeper into God’s word. Have you? Are you? Will you? dig deeper into God’s Word. As we grow in our relationship with God, Jesus, and His Holy Spirit, we will become better Christians and better parents.
This blog is to encourage us as parents to trust God’s word and “not grow weary in well doing for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not” Galatians 6:9.
Pastor Starks has shared numerous times that “in every child, there’s an untold story” and “we have the best children; they are not perfect but the best.” That’s simply because we are obeying God’s word.
As parents, the following Scriptures are what we rely on as part of our foundational commitment to train our children in the ways of God:
Proverbs 22:6
“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
Ephesians 6:4
“And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.”
Psalm 127:3
“Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.”
As parents, our desire should be to please God because we are so grateful for our gifts from Him, His children. Because their stories will unfold, we should instill as much righteousness in them as we can.
Stay encouraged, God loves you!
