I was recently reminded not to frustrate the Grace of God. In Galatians 2:21, Paul says, “I do not frustrate the grace of God:..” We are taught that the Grace of God is His omnipotent power working in and on our behalf. If His Grace is working in us, then why do we find ourselves frustrated, overwhelmed or ready to give up? Could it be that we are focusing on the problem, situation, circumstance and yes, even our weaknesses? Could it be that we get frustrated when we don’t get what we want, when things don’t go according to our plans or that we just grow weary in well doing? Remember, God is in our tomorrows, and He knows the things that we are going to face even before we encounter them.
In Galatians chapters 1 and 2, we find the Jews arguing back and forth about the law or grace, liberty or bondage, or whether you have to be circumcised or uncircumcised. But Paul lets them know that we are to walk according to the faith of Jesus Christ and not unto the works of the law, thus we should not frustrate His Grace about those miniscule things. Oftentimes, we whine about the smallest things that ultimately steal our peace. Paul made a resounding statement, and this is the way I hear it, “I WILL NOT FRUSTRATE THE GRACE OF GOD!” In other words, we have to refuse to let the opposition get the best of us. Let’s stop worrying, complaining, and getting frustrated over the things that God has given us the power to overcome.
In 2 Corinthians 12:7-9, Paul sought the Lord three times to take away his problem, which was considered to be a “thorn in the flesh.” But God said unto him, “…My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” So, let’s stop looking at the problem and let’s look at HIS GRACE (the power of Christ) which resides in us; for His Grace is more than sufficient to see us through whatever we are facing in life. Do not frustrate the Grace of God in your life!
